Printmaking
Printmaking is my favourite technique for making art. The drypoint line (made by drawing onto a copperplate with a diamond tipped needle) is my most favourite line – soft and strong, dense or fine. I use a second aquatint plate (sometimes a third) for creating various textures.
There are endless possibilities and many different tools for marking the plates. There is always an element of surprise or magic involved when using acid (Ferric Chloride is my choice). The printing of multiple plates and the layering of colours create rich and luscious colours of unique quality. This complex process is part of a long tradition, still mysterious.
